How to Inspect Used Cars Before Buying

Before buying your desired second hand cars, it is important that you will do a thorough inspection first to avoid serious problems in the future. Below are a few steps on how to inspect your used car.
Keep it in park – doing so will surely save your time from driving an obvious worthless car. In addition, cool engine is easier to inspect compared to an engine that has been driving for 20 minutes.
Walk around the car – spend some time inspecting a used car by walking around the car and note of any damages just like how you will inspect when renting a car. As you walk around the car, make sure that you noted of some external damages like deep scratches as it may lead to rust problems. Other than the physical appearance, make sure that the doors shut snugly and make sure that the hinges and latches have no signs of rust and damage. In addition, inspect also for flaking paint, tires, headlights, and the rubber molding.
Touch everything – when inspecting your desired used car, act like a kid and touch everything. Have every switch and lights of the car tested. Test the air conditioner and see if it is still working. Play the car stereo, CD or MP3 player in order to make sure that everything works out fine. Test everything like emergency brake, seat belt, seats, and more.
Act like a detective – check for records that the car might have like the maintenance record and more, which can possible be found at the glove compartment. Check for the maintenance record and see if the car has the same problem dome repeatedly. In addition, make sure that you have checked the registration paper and see if the identification numbers in the paper matches with the car you are looking.
Check the trunk – it is also important to check the trunk for it hides many secrets. Check if the trunk has sings of moisture, jacks and all parts are present and are in good working condition. Inspect for some spare tire and a tool to unlock the car’s wheel lock. If you are buying a second hand car that was manufactured since 2002, make sure that its interior trunk release in working fine.
Check the battery – check the car’s battery and see if the belts have signs of wear.
Check under the car – after you have check the entire car’s appearance, it is now time to get on your knees by looking under the car and while on it check for some rust.
Second time checking – after your first checking, check for the second time around and make sure that the tires are not switched, check if the fuel level dropped and see if all your requested repairs are done.
