The Mazda Takeri Concept that showed from the last year’s Tokyo Motor Show is one the best look yet as to what the styling of the upcoming 2013 Mazda Mazda6 will look like.

Based on Mazda’s new design language, ‘KODO – Soul of Motion’, the Mazda TAKERI is designed to express ‘an intuitive sedan identity’ and ‘an overwhelming emotional beauty’ as the latest platform for Mazda’s breakthrough SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY. TAKERI provides a supremely comfortable ride feel, thanks to the satisfying power of SKYACTIV-D and new lightweight and aerodynamic technologies. It also features the i-stop idling stop system and Mazda’s first regenerative braking system. The regenerative braking system efficiently converts kinetic energy to electricity during deceleration, stores it in capacitors and then uses it to power the vehicle’s electric equipment, thereby reducing load on the engine and saving fuel. (concept carz) Thanks to these electric devices, the Mazda TAKERI achieves excellent fuel economy.

The regenerative braking system represents Step Two of Mazda’s Building Block Strategy. After renewing existing technologies, such as engines and bodies, Step One of the Building Block Strategy is idling stop technology (i-stop), Step Two is regenerative braking technology, and Step Three is electric drive technology (hybrid, etc.).

The Mazda CX-5 is the first of Mazda’s next generation products that will feature the complete range of SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY, including powertrain, body and chassis. Thanks to KODO design, the CX-5 expresses a strong sense of vitality and agility unlike other SÚVs. As Mazda’s first model equipped wîth the new SKYACTIV-D clean diesel engine, the Mazda CX-5 also offers a predictable and refined driving experience coupled wîth outstanding environmental and safety performance.

The Mazda automaker has just showed their latest innovative car at Chicago Auto Show.The 2012 MX-5 Miata special edition. The Mazda 2012 MX-5 Miata special edition features a Power Retractable Hard Top (PRHT) that is available in black. It is the first time that the roadster has been created in a color that does not match the main bodywork.

Mazda has sold 900,000 examples of its MX-5 Miata roadster globally since 1989, and the company is celebrating with a Special Edition package for the car, unveiled at this year’s Chicago Auto Show. The new trim pack consists primarily of styling changes for the fun Japanese roadster.
The MX-5 Special Edition is based on a Power Retractable Hardtop model in Grand Touring trim. The hardtop is painted black, marking the first time Mazda has offered a non-body color roof in North America. To complement the dark roof, the limited-run Miata also scores new Velocity Red and Crystal White paint colors. Mazda says that the PRHT MX-5 Miata outsells the ragtop four-to-one worldwide.
There also are new 17-inch gunmetal wheels, black exterior accent pieces, black heated leather seats, black roll bars, an alloy pedal set, and piano-black interior trim. On top of that, the Special Edition Miata is fitted with the Suspension and Premium packages; the Suspension package brings Bilstein shocks, a limited slip differential, and sport-tuned suspension to the party, while the Premium package ups the lux quotient with Bluetooth phone connectivity, satellite radio, xenon headlights, anti-theft alarm, and keyless entry system.

Powering the Special Edition MX-5 will be the same 2.0-liter I-4 found in other MX-5s that is good for 167 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque (models with the automatic transmission only make 158 hp, however). Both a six-speed manual and automatic will be offered, and will send power exclusively to the rear wheels.
The company says the limited-run model continues the Miata’s heritage as a “dynamically-engineered, enthusiast-approved roadster.” Only 450 of the Special Edition cars will be produced, and they will sit atop the MX-5 Miata’s lineup retailing for $32,020 (including destination) for manual transmission cars or $32,470 for automatic-equipped models. The 2012 Mazda MX-5 Miata Special Edition will be available in Mazda dealerships starting at the end of February.

Dubbed as the Active Lifestyle Vehicle, the Mazda 2011 BT-50 Pickup is currently making waves at the Australian International Motor Show. This has turned over a new leaf for Mazda as they try to make a new direction in the utility market as the new BT-50 is intended to further extend the appeal of a utility vehicle from traditional business users to a wide range of clients including families.

Mazda 2011 BT-50 Pickup is designed to be a Sophisticated Beast. Ryo Yanagisawa, chief designer of the all-new BT-50, explains:

Mazda’s brand message is Zoom-Zoom, which refers to the emotion of motion first experienced as a child. With the All-New BT-50, we aimed to express this emotion through the design, and we drew a lot of inspiration from various “movements” in the world around us. For example, we had a photograph of a lion. He looked like a magnificent predator with his muscles all bunching up as though he was about to pounce on his prey. His sinews were stretched taut ready to strike, and his mane framed a sharp, masculine countenance that seemed to say, ‘I am the proud king of the beasts!’ In profile, that lion appeared to be both intelligent and powerful. I really wanted the design of the truck to project that kind of image. This kind of inspiration was the basis of the emotional design that we worked so hard to achieve with the all-new BT-50.
