The Porsche has declared just recently that there’s an upcoming compact SUV and it will be named the Macan.

The name is derived from the Indonesian word for tiger and according to Porsche it embodies the suppleness, power, and dynamics of the new model.

Along with the reveal of the new name, Porsche also dropped this teaser image showing the look of the Macan and an accompanying video.

Although highly stylized, the image reveals a similar styling treatment to that found on the current Cayenne, as well as a five-door body and very low ride height. The headlights also appear to carry the squared-off look seen on the new 2013 Porsche Boxster and which was first employed on the concept version of the upcoming 918 Spyder hybrid supercar.

Formerly labeled the Cajun, the Macan will be Porsche’s fifth model line and will be built at the automaker’s recently expanded plant in Leipzig, Germany in late 2013. It will share a platform with the Audi Q5, and will also share its engines–though it may get a few Porsche-tweaked versions of its own. One possibility is a borrowed Audi 3.0-liter turbodiesel rated at 309 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque.

The five-door model you see here will likely be the core version, but a sportier three-door variant has been discussed.

Expect the Macan to land in U.S. showrooms in the first half of 2014, possibly bringing with it a fairly low price point for the Porsche brand. Balancing luxury and capability with cost-effective and profitable construction and design remains to be seen. However, performance, as always with Porsche, will still be a priority.

The new and latest generation ‘991’ series Porsche 911 has already been unveiled, but so far only in the lower Carrera and Carrera S models.

The one we’re most interested in is the legendary 911 Turbo, which should land in showrooms towards the end of the year, coming once again in both coupe and convertible bodystyles.

While we recently brought you spy shots, plus a spy video, of the new 911 Turbo coupe, this time we have more images of the upcoming 911 Turbo Cabriolet, and this latest prototype has the least covering we’ve seen yet.

The new 911 Turbo Cabriolet should come onto the market as a 2013 model complete with a twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, wide rear haunches, additional cooling vents all around, and a new active rear spoiler. Peak output should be slightly higher than the 530 horsepower of the most recent 911 Turbo S, so expect a figure of around 550 horsepower to bring its output in-line with that of its Japanese nemesis, the Nissan GT-R.

An advanced tri-turbo setup has been reported as a possibility, with the addition of the third turbocharger aimed at improving low-end response for blistering off the line performance. But that’s not all as an uprated ‘PDK-S’ dual-clutch gearbox may also get the cut. A conventional manual will still be offered but with the same seven-forward gear setup that we saw launched on the 2012 911.

The 911 Turbo coupe is expected to make an appearance at next month’s 2012 Geneva Motor Show so we wouldn’t be surprised to see this convertible version at one of the following major international auto shows, perhaps even the 2012 New York Auto Show in April.

The most popular car name in the world, Porsche, has decided to make their line a lot tougher to wipe out the competition by building a new Porsche Cajun Crossover in Leipzig. Matthias Müller, chairman of the Porsche AG board of management, has this to say about the decision:

During the production of the Cayenne and the Panamera, our Leipzig plant has impressively proved that it can produce premium vehicles of highest quality. The decision in favour of this location is proof of our trust in the skills and qualifications of our Leipzig associates, and at the same time another contribution to the economic advancement of the region.

After its first expansion, the Gran Turismo Panamera four-seater has been built there since 2009. It is produced in a model mix with the sporty off-road vehicle. Up until today, Porsche has invested around 280 million euro in Leipzig.

Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid has been tuned anew to give the utmost level of performance possible by the speedART car tuner based in Germany. Hence the name, speedART Porsche Cayenne S speedHYBRID 450.

The diesel engine is 3-liter V6 TDI engine that is modified to produce a maximum power output of 240hp and a peak torque of 550Nm. Emitting only 244g of carbon dioxide per kilometer and consuming an average of 9.3L/100km (25.3 mpg), this engine is quite promising. Those who are craving for a Porsche in their garage and who are quite concerned about their money well surely love this new development.
